24 October 2014 Friday.
Woke up to a very windy morning. A quick check and we were expecting 44 KM/hr wind throughout the day.
Our motel room has this small private garden attached. We had hot noodles and hot coffee in our private garden with a cold wind gusting outside. Enjoyable !
After breakfast, we set off to Christchurch Botanic Garden. Avon river is running through the garden. I called this Serenity.
Crossing Avon River and entered Botanic Garden
Spacious green and colorful vegetation of all dimensions…..
Zoomed in on flowers.
Many ducklings dwell by the Avon River.
Mummy duck and little ducklings….I thought I saw natural organization.
Naughty girl disturbing them.
Nice little pond right at the center of the garden.
I thought reflection would be superb if not because of high wind.
My favorite picture…
Our pictures in the Botanic Garden.
Our next stop was Cathedral Square. On the way we saw barricade around some city buildings.
The damaged church….
Outside the damaged church…
It was no good feeling about the damages….looking around Tram continue its routine run and life move on.
A short drive away…. we were at Bridge of Remembrance and Re:start Mall.
Bridge under reconstruction.
Re:START Mall was constructed using many 40 footer containers…
Relaxing space with people enjoying the cool afternoon sun.
Our Pictures at Re:START Mall.
Lunch time @ Running bull…. good ribs with nice beer to go along…. fantastic !
After lunch, we drove to Christchurch Gondola.
Going up against the cliff…
The wind was blowing furiously.
Looking down. Notice this damaged road and chill ran down my spine.
At the arriving station…
We were rewarded by fantastic panoramic view of Christchurch.
and superb view of Lyttelton.
We spent a long while enjoying the ferocious wind and wonderful sighting. Judging from the sheer size of of Akaroa and Lyttelton, which are craters remain of volcano,I just could not imagine the dimension of its eruption.
It was almost 1600 hrs before we got on the Gondola and made our way down hill.
We decided to make a short turn to Lyttelton and had a look at this Crater Port Harbor.
We had more shopping at Westfield Riccarton followed by more packing for our return flight.
It was a enjoyable day full of Christchurch Varieties…. Garden , City, Gondola, ribs and beer and shopping.
