25 October 2014 Saturday.
I received SMS from Singapore Airline…. stating that our flight would be delayed from morning 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs. We had a few hours to do our last minute shopping. We had wanted to purchase Lanolin. Cheap at Dunedin and I thought I could get it cheaper at Christchurch. Very pricey at Westfield mall and I could not find elsewhere that I considered reasonable. Took the opportunity to explore some other pharmacy outside Westfield mall.
Yes…. got it at Hanafins…. not best deal but acceptable.
We decided to have good ribs again but too early to have it at Running Bull. Decided to try Trevinos.
Some starter….
We noticed something peculiar…everything seemed tilt by few degree.
While having our food, we asked the waitress why everything was tilted. She told us this restaurant was affected by Christchurch Earthquake but surveyed to be safe… and we could see the flooring tilted. The further end slightly higher, while our corner is diagonal lower.
While having our ribs and steak, the waitress was recounting on the day of earthquake. She was working in another restaurant then. It was a fearful experience when earthquake strike – everything was shaking and falling apart. All guests and staff rushing out… No one return hours after that. She was saying recovery was slow and people were out of job and some people having more difficult time. We listened attentively and had heavy feeling for the very friendly people here.
What a way to end our NZ trip ! Just like people who started Re:START Mall, I could only wish mindful people get stronger after difficult encounter. (Strong People Cannot be defeated – remind me of this catch phrase from Danielle Steel Crossing)
We returned our car and I registered that we had driven a total of 4500 km.

Finally on board our flight….Christchurch fading out in the far horizon.
We bid good bye to this wonderful country…. with snow capped mountain, meandering rivers, rolling clouds… coming under the aircraft and then gone out of sight.
A very wonderful and enjoyable holiday on this beautiful lovely Island. Our prizes after 21 days…
The most important prize is the superb wonderful memories that engraved in our soul, carry within us years after years in our life….
