5 October 2014 Sunday.
…..Birds are singing, you by my side
Lets take a car and go for a ride
Hey hey hey, it’s a beautiful day
We’ll drive on and follow the sun
Making Sunday go on and on
Hey hey hey it’s a beautiful day
Hi hi hi, beautiful Sunday
We wake up and it was a “Beautiful Sunday”.
After checked out from the Motel, we drove to Wai ariki Farm.
We had our breakfast – hot steamy chicken pies and coffee.
The owner showed us the farm park outside the building and told us he kept exotics animals. An attraction in Hanmer Spring.
We had our tickets and entered the park. Llamas looked lovely and blur…
and its cousin Alpaca…not so attractive and not so friendly
Looking around, we realized there were many lovely toddlers running around and enjoying themselves…wonderland for young children.
We had fun time with the animals.
Our original plan was to spend one hour at the farm …. and then we realized two hours had passed. Leaving Wai Arika, we took pictures of Hanmer Spring with clear blue morning sky. Postcard Scenery.
Driving on lonely road….farewell to the lovely snow capped mountains…
Sunny Look.
It was nearly 1300 hrs that we found the World Famous Kaikoura Seafood BBQ.
It was a roadside kiosk and many people were waiting for their food to be served.
While waiting for food to be served…. we explored the seaside
Still Waiting for our Food….
Food was served…
Very fresh stuff, very tender lobster …. cold weather, warm seafood…. superb.
After the sumptuous lunch, we drove off to explore the tip of the peninsula. Parked our car by the edge of water….
Little creature in front of our car
Look timid and pitiful…
Looking out …. the water was very rough and many seals were on the rock…
Snow capped mountain with seawater sparkling in sunlight. The view was fantastic. Wonderful feeling.
Shortly after we turned out of the car park….this seal woke up, turned around and looked at us.
we were fascinated by its motion…. the seal walked away like a bear.
We had a little stop at Cods and Crayfish….fresh catch.
Leaving Kaikoura and driving North…. nice road, beautiful daylight. Our next stop was Blenheim.
It was a long way to Picton…. stopover to relax, stretch and dance.
As it was getting late, we decided to skip Blenheim and head direct to Picton.
It was almost evening time when we arrived at Picton.
Walking down to the harbour
The place was a little too quiet
Very nice green green grass on one side…
And yacht parking area on the other side.
Just as we admired the perfect peacefulness with cool sea breeze kissing on our face…. We saw Interislander which ferry cars between North and South Island move into the harbour.
We had Dinner at Cafe Cortado…. Fresh Clams and tasty pizza.
The drive to Nelson was a little too scary…. we managed to reach Harris just before 9 PM. The Owner had get ready our cottage… City Light.
Very clean and complete little unit.
End of Day 2 : Hanmer Spring is magical. We enjoyed the scenic landscape and Wai Arika Farm wonderland. Sumptuous lunch at Kaikoura Seafood BBQ and we were extremely close to its natural habitats. A short stop over at Picton but we can truly feel the perfect peacefulness it offer.
