10 March 2017, Friday
We loved the snow at Einishus Cottages.
A small snow man was born.
some hot tea….cheers.
It was around 30 mins drive from Einishus Cottages to Góðafoss Waterfall.
Góðafoss Waterfall.
From top of the waterfall…. Icy cold water flowing in from all direction, feeding itself to the horseshoe shaped waterfall. It flow was very aggressive. It gave me a chill feeling down my spine.
Standing on floating ice…. one last picture before we left for Akureyri.
a lonely church along the way … Akureyri Tango.
Akureyri Reflection
True Symbol of Akureyri…. Akureyri Church
We had some grocery shopping at Akureyri Bonus and some quick bite before we drove off to Laugarbakki. It was sunny with absolute clear blue sky.
Occasional patch of cloud hovering the icy mountain. I love this sunny icy feeling. The view was gorgeous.
snow powder hovering over the road.
This was a very nice stop over point for petrol and cup of hot coffee.
One of the best church we have seen – Blonduos Church – funky, elegant and futuristic.
The bright sunlight make the church look wonderful from all angle.
after Blonduos Church, there was little snow… we saw this beautiful blue stream …. This is one of my favourite… Nature is so beautiful.
Yes…it was 1700 hrs when we reached Laugarbakki… I love sunset reflection.
We checked into our hotel…. enjoying the outdoor facilities the hotel provide
We had dinner at Hvammstangi Sjavarborg Restaurant.
Sunset view from inside and outside the restaurant.
Our dinner….the fish were extremely well cooked and spiced up with wonders…. lovely.
It was late… leaving restaurant…. this place was so peaceful !!!!!
This stretch of northern Iceland overwhelmed me with feeling of peacefulness amid beautiful landscape. A place where we enveloped ourselves in postcard scenery.
I promised myself on my next trip here, I will planned for slower exploration and take my time to rhythm with the natural landscape here.
