20 December 2015 Sunday
Amasonata anchored around 0730 hrs in the morning. After breakfast, we disembarked for the guided tour to Melk Abbey.
Entrance to Melk Abbey.
Into the Abbey…
Entering the Abbey Building
The arched walkway in the Abbey. It gave me a sacred cold feeling.
Entering the Museum. The exhibits were sophisticated. (shadow and no shadow)
A good mixed of Modern Art and Middle Age painting tinted with Scientific Touch. Very Nice.
There was extensive use of mirror and glass in the display, creating a glassy reflective illusion. A lot of Science.
The last display near Museum Exit : An overview of Melk Abbey.
The Marble Hall and its ceiling painting.
Melk Abbey is sited on high ground. Looking down from the Abbey, we could see the entire village. simple and quiet village …simple and quiet lifestyle.
Our Pictures
The front view of the Church. A portion of the building was under reconstruction.
The spiral staircase leading to the main hall is another art piece.
Praying Mass going on in the main hall. (富丽唐煌)
A short walk from the Abbey… Melk Village Center.
Simple architecture, cobblestone walkway, peaceful and quiet
Village Center and Tiny Christmas market
Our Baubles ….
Hot Potatoes Slices – crisp and tasty…
Last Prayer beside Melk Abbey
Looking back at this Jewel by the Danube.
Majestic Melk Abbey from River side.
Crossing the bridge to where Amasonata anchored.
Donau (Sound like Donuts) is the local name for Danube. The name of Danube – peaceful, quiet, leisure, relax, cooling….
Our pictures…
and Ho San and Ho Tai
Noon time. It was a cooling day…it was so good to stroll on this cooling ambient…time to move on
Lunch ….
After lunch, the cruise ship voyaged past a very scenic section of Danube – Wachau Valley
Entering wachau valley
Misty Wacahu… Misty Danube. (Chinese Poet can describe such misty scene exceptionally well …烟波江上使人愁)
Close in on Durnstein
Wachau valley was behind us.
We had early dinner
It was dark when we arrived at Vienna. Danube was no more narrow quiet river.
Vienna at night
We headed for a mini concert.
inside the concert Hall
Waiting the musicians…. Yes…. Blue Danube and one and half hours of Strauss great pieces. (as we were told not to do any electronic recordings… we did not take any pictures during the mini-concert.)
End of Day 8 : Melk Abbey is the hidden Jewel of Danube. Just like the Blue Danube, the music lingers on this beautiful and peaceful wonderland.
