18 December 2015 Friday
Amasonata was on the move throughout the night. By morning, we were at Regensburg. We found another cruise ship anchored beside us.
We had buffet Breakfast.
After breakfast, we had guided walking tour of the city. The history of Regensburg dated back to Roman Empire and two portions of the wall that were part of a Roman Tower.
we walked through the city and took pictures of this very nice city.
We were lucky to witness this Regensburg Wedding.
The little cobblestone alley were well prepared for Christmas
Our guided tour ended at St Peter’s Church. This is the landmark of Regensburg.
We were left to stroll back to our cruise ship. We stopped at Besucherzentrum Welterbe. This was an old salt store hundreds years ago and today it is a Visitor Center.
Besides the Visitor center, this is another a century old building and today, it house a sausage restaurant. The local told me it sold the best sausage in town. I tried that and it is very good.
The famous old stone bridge was under re-construction. A corner view of the reconstruction work.
Danube from the Stone Bridge
The islands on the Danube – misty and cold amid the winter rain.
Our picture
A last picture of Danube before returning to Amasonata
we were a little wet when we returned to our cabin…the crew had get ready this creature to wipe us dry… so nice.
After lunch on Amasonata, we took arranged bus to Christmas Market at Thurn and Taxi Castle. Thurn and Taxi family at one time controlled the postal services in Europe.
Entrance to the castle…
the Star and the stables.
There were quite a big crowd in this castle Christmas market.
Wide open area in the castle
There are a lot of photogenic spot in the castle.
Talk to my hand pose.
The stalls were very well decorated.
Very interesting Christmas goodies
I especially like this stall owner… and his portrait.
The center of the castle is a hilly woodland, with a nice little cafe atop. The wood looked exceptional against the clear sky.
Photographer at work
We roamed the castle for hours and it was about time to exit
waiting outside the castle for our transport… a fire place to warm ourselves
Returned back to the cruise ship…. the crew had arranged a mini Christmas concert by local quartet. The guys sung very well and filled the ship with a Christmas aura.
after the concert, it was dinner time.
End of Day 6. Rensenburg was definitely picturesque. A lovely place to relax, roam and enjoy quiet leisure. Christmas market at Thurn and Taxi Castle was full of Christmas wonders, a place to enjoy village style Christmas.
