14 Dec 2015 Monday
Woke up and looked out of hotel window…I was surprised to see the modern buildings behind the classic architecture.
The typical street were lined with classic architecture.
This was Monday morning…I really felt good to be on holiday, especially when I saw adults rushing to work and children heading to schools…
After hotel breakfast, we took bus to Prague Castle. From where we alight, we had to walk through several hundred meters of woodlands before reaching the castle. It was relax and cool strolling….
By the time we reached the castle, we saw the end of Guard Change Ceremony – the Guards were Marching off….
The Duty Guard standing at his post…. really smart.
The Castle complex is large.
Surprisingly, there were very little Christmas charm.
Most people gathered in front of the Vitus Cathedral. Very Grand.
This church was many times older than both of us combined.
The garden area was peaceful and quiet. The trees kept its lovely green….
At the Castle Gate leading to Lesser Town.
Courtyard outside the Castle Gate
A tiny Christmas market … selling all kind of food. The festive atmosphere was good.
We had some hot drinks and light snacks.
And the icon for Christmas market…
Look beyond the railing and downwards… Lesser Town awaiting us.
It began to drizzle a little… but that did not quench our interest. There were long stretch of cobblestone street, lined with classic architecture. It was quiet and peaceful, with occasional traffic disturbing this stillness.
There are many interesting small shops lined the street. We especially like this Gingerbread Museum.
Russian dolls are popular souvenir in Prague.
This monument really stands out. I thought it was a wonderful art piece.
We had quick lunch at MacDonald before our Charles Bridge exploration.
女孩的歌声,甜甜的,回荡在小巷间。。。好听
Just before the bridge… we heard this girl…. her singing was extremely good… it echoed with sweetness between the buildings … outstanding.
We decided to detour to Lennon Wall. The wall is a symbol of freedom and rebellion. Tourists selfie in front of the wall.
Not an easy picture… I had to ask people to make way for my photo taking.
Our Pictures…
An artist performing in front of the wall.
On our way to Charles Bridge…crossing this little canal…I had special liking for quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Canal Left, Right and Center….
A nice little restaurant tucked behind the canal bridge
Romancing Vltava River bank.
A small Christmas market under Charles bridge…
This was classic.
My wife received a Christmas gift….
Lonely road beyond the Christmas market
Leaving the Christmas Market, we walked up the fleet of stairs to Charles bridge.
Charles Bridge is homeland to many artists.
Charles Bridge is lined with marvelous Sculptures. We took our time to admire them one by one. The sculptors had engraved life into every one of these monuments.
Looking out on either side of the bridge…it gave me a misty cool autumn feeling.
Cool architecture.
We really enjoyed the leisure stroll across this magnificent bridge. It gave essence of artistic, romantic, lovely … all blended into one beautiful enjoyable symphony.
If there was a song to describe Charles bridge….愛像一首歌 鄧麗君
Looking across the river….Lesser town and Prague castle started to twinkle with lights.
Leaving Charles Bridge…. we entered Cobblestone alleys lit with warm light… lovely.
Adding a little sweetness to simple life.
We had dinner in this tiny cafe…homely and good stuff.
Stepping into Old Town Square
Wonderful atmosphere encompassed the entire Old Town Square. Prague Christmas market was truly Magical.
There were simply too many Christmas touch…lovely!
Here is one of my all time favorite Youtube Video on Winter Prague (wonderful scene sprinkled with soothing music by Ludovico Einaudi)
Our photographs
We thought Charles bridge would be beautiful at night….
I called this quiet and gorgeous.
Took pictures of Prague Castle and River Vltava before we returned to Hotel. I love wavy reflection.
End of Day 2…. Prague is one of the most romantic city in the Europe. I especially love the cobblestone alley with dim street lights, Charles bridge, art pieces everywhere and classic architecture… Altogether they sprinkle love and romance into this festive atmosphere.
