13 Dec 2015 Sunday
After attending nephew James Tng Siang Kai’s wedding dinner (Saturday night), we pulled our luggage and headed to the airport. We had pushed back our holiday plan because of this wedding ceremony / dinner.
While waiting to checked in… my wife picked her Christmas Gift.
Our flight took off at 0130 hrs. It was 0730 hrs Zurich time when our flight touched down. The airport had a festive aura.
Swarovski Christmas tree. A close examination showed crystal sparkled with different colors on different facets.
Our flight to Prague was schedule at 1230 PM. We had two hours to shop and lunch. Shop for chocolate and scarf.
We had pasta for lunch….cheese but was not cheesy.
We landed on Prague around 1400hrs. It was almost 1500 hrs when we cleared custom and collected our luggage. I had placed all my luggage on trolley, including my computer bag right on top of all the bags. My wife was examining the local data card and I looked away into the telco shop. A very well dressed gentleman took my computer bag and walked leisurely off. Seconds later, I noticed my bag was gone and saw the guy with my bag…. I shouted…. he dropped my bag and leisurely stroll out through the airport auto-door. It was a scare and a lesson learned – to be especially careful with my belonging in this part of the world.
By the time we reached our hotel, it was almost dark. Sunset was early at this time of the year. After checked in and washed up… we headed out to explore Prague.
Palladium and the neighboring shopping districts were crowded.
This street musician caught our attention. The crystal clear music tinkled in the cold night sky. Outstanding.
Heading towards Wenceslas Square Christmas Market. Wenceslas Square was a horses trading ground centuries ago. Today it is a vibrant area where people come here for entertainment and nightlife.
We roamed Wenceslas Christmas market. Our first taste of Christmas Market in Europe. There are many stall selling Christmas decorative gadgets and food stuff.
This Sausage and Gluhwein booth was most popular.
The Animal stable drew a lot of attention.
I learned Trdelnik was a local specialty that we should not missed. I had one. Crisp and sweet : Tasty !
We had dinner at Cafe Svateho Vaclava.
We ordered pork knuckle. The portion was large and the meat was tender. I am a meat lover and I called this fantastic. Thanks to my research before this trip.
Throughout the night, we had this Czech warrior coming to us several time. Very friendly staff.
After dinner, we roamed the old town before we headed back to hotel. It was a long day for us. Sleep well in preparation of more Prague exploration.
