We arrived Zurich at day break. Stepping out of the railway station… very cooling morning Sun
Our Hotel is about 300m away from the railway station. it was uphill and very difficult climb with luggage. Checked in and leisurely we strolled back to the railway station.
At Zurich Railway station…
We bought our ticket to Mt Titlis.
It was very scenic ride to Engelberg.
We arrived at Engelberg around noon. Temperature zero degree C.
Our Pictures
Stepping out of Engelberg Station, we loved this very picturesque little town.
A short walk on a snowy path towards the Cable car Station.
Leisure lifestyle….
Pictures Around the Cable Car Center
A little stream beside the walk path…. very relaxing and enjoyable sight.
Looking towards… the golden colored alps glittered in the Sun ….
Vertical and Horizontal Pictures…
The cable car carried us through pine forest and then into vast snowy mountain slope.
As we scaled new height…. we had a good glimpse of Engelberg.
The Alps look majestic …
We came to the end of first section of cable car. Looking up the skiing center. The build up is very complex.
The area was packed with skiers.
A short walk out of the building…onto the ski lane.
We board the Rotair and headed for the submit.
Looking back, we could see the area was crowded with hundreds of skiers.
It was an icy theme park at the summit. We started with Glacier Cave.
Some statistics of glacier cave.
Everything was bluish inside the 150m cave. It was simple stroll inside the icy tunnel.
Emerging from Glacier Cave, we found snowy mountain towering around us.
A long climb up to the Titlis cliff walk.
where the climb ended….
Our pictures….
Looking back…. this is not really walking on cliff…. we were walking on suspension bridge with hundreds of meter of empty space below.
After Cliff walk, we headed for ice flyer….
The chair lift carried us to the true summit of Titlis. Looking back, I thought it really looked scary. It gave me a feeling of life on a string.
Heading to the top of the world….
Looking up… life is so tiny.
Top of the world…
Such a feeling is coming over me
There is wonder in ‘most everything I see
Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes
And I won’t be surprised if it’s a dream…..
Looking down on the neighboring peaks….
I’m on the top of the world looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find….
This is a true skier paradise…
.and we were impressed by these uphill skier….
A lone skier with the spirit of El Condor Pasa…
Heading back to mid hill interchange. Happy selfie….
Suddenly, we spotted two parachutists…. descending from heaven and gliding in the evening sun.
The mid hill interchange looked blue and relatively empty now….
On the last stretch of cable car ride to Engelberg…
approaching the cable car ground station.
Outside the station…..
Satisfied skiers were leaving ….
One more picture before we left for Lucerne.
It was dark when we arrived at Lucerne. Stepping out of the Railway station… Hotel Monopol look exceptional outstanding in the yellow light.
The area around Lucerne railway station was lighted with Christmas aura.
We crossed the Reuss River Via Seebrücke Luzern. The bridge was like a Jewel box …. and an unique experience walking within an enclosure of lights.
The way bridges are aligned across Reuss was pretty unique.
Crossing Reuss, it was a short walk to the Chapel Bridge and the Lucerne Water Tower. Chapel Bridge is a wooden bridge that runs diagonally across Reuss. A construction since 1333 (Restored after fire breakout in the nineties).
Our Pictures
Rathaussteg Bridge topped with Christmas Lighting….
The River water was fairly calm … Jesuit Church had a nice reflection.
The aroma from street food…. initiated our hunger.
We recall seeing Restaurant Mostrose.
Simple soup and Pizza topped with my lovely Rocket…. wonderful hot food on a cold winter night.
After Dinner, we strolled a long the River bank… Elegance in the staggering dark Reuss water.
It was an hour of train ride to Zurich. Bahnhof at night.
Christmas light outside Bahnhof.
A short walk from Bahnhof, we came across Monument of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi… educationist who said…. learning by Head, Hand and Heart.
The Limmat River bank was nicely lighted up… I especially like the trees of lighted crystal balls.
It was long trip to Mount Titlis and return.
Lovely Engelberg and Lovely Lucerne. A cool experience on top of Mount Titlis.
It was a very enjoyable day in Switzerland….
