7 October 2014 Tuesday.
We were in a little rush this morning… as we had to catch the Abel Tasman cruise. A little snack at Toad Hall (Pretty Unique Name for a small supermarket) before we were off to Motueka.
From far, we could see the Ferry Terminal.
A close up on how boats were lowered into water. That was exactly how our cruise boat got into water.
The cruise would send us to extreme north and then mage the return trip. Alight us at Torrent Bay. We had to walk to Bark Bay to catch the return ferry.
Our cruise boat first got us to iconic Apple Split Rock.
It circled apple split rock twice and quickly we were speeding along the coast. Rocky coast and exceptional clear water.
With sandy disembarkation points…
Few passengers disembarked for canoeing program.
The boatman told us this is another famous rock – ninja turtle rock.
A slight detour to a rocky island.
Dotted with sea birds and lazy seal.
Approaching Totaranui Beach. This is the Northern End of Abel Tasman National Park.
Hikers had everything ready for overnight hiking.
We were told of golden sands….not sure if we these are the golden color…
South Bound and we disembarked on Torrent Bay…. our aqua taxi bumped out into the ocean.
Very Scenic beach.
Harmonious family with their dog….
A little lagoon behind the beach. The name is tranquillity.
And a seabird
We hike uphill and look down at torrent bay beach and the inland lagoon. We love the tranquility of this wonderful place.(世外桃源)
Continued our walk to Bark bay. Met a number of backpackers.
Stopped to admire the vegetation.
At around one third mark… scenic Lookout
At halfway pool…we were a little worn out.
at two third mark…. the Falls river suspension bridge.
Looking downstream…the water clarity was superb.
rejuvenated
The last stretch just before bark bay….was rocky and more difficult and we lost our way in the forest and worst I sprained my ankle.
At last, we make it to Bark Bay beach.
Our Pictures….and my crooked ankle.
waiting for our aqua taxi… so relax.
It was nearly 1530 hrs… when the aqua taxi arrived to pick us up.
The boat trip was fast and a smooth drive…. soon we were back to Harris City Light.
City Light from the back.
Sit back on the verandah with rose wine, enjoying the great view in front of me.
My wife set up camera for the sunset pictures…
Slowly …. it drifted into Golden Nelson
Beautiful Sunset over Nelson.
Last Picture of the day …. Good Night Nelson.
End Of Day 4. Abel Tasman was magical. We soaked ourselves in the beauty and tranquility of Abel Tasman National Park. Harris City Light was another magical site and we managed to capture the color of Nelson as the sun ticked down the horizon. Very wonderful memory.
