18 October 2014. Saturday.
Saturday is market day in Dunedin. We planned to explore the Farmers Market and had our breakfast there. Our first stop – the Dunedin Railway Station.
Very beautiful bed of flowers in front of the railway station.
Look perfect – the gardener must have put in heart and soul into the work.
Inside the station building – very classic English design….
At the railway platform…
Just beside the station building.. a little link way to The Farmers market
The market was crowded with locals..
Artists performing at the market. Many people like his music.
We ordered some hot coffee and wraps..
Sat down and had some hot food…felt exceptionally good to have hot food in cold weather. …Little sea bird in front of us admiring our breakfast.
After breakfast…. we went around looking at the stalls and the product they sell…
This stall was not selling Champion Artisan Cheese….
We tried and it tasted superb….
Vegetables were exceptionally fresh…
And our purchases…..I struggled to carry the stuff back to hotel.
After leaving all the purchases in our hotel room, we walk to Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
A lot of fine art pieces…
We could appreciate some of the contemporary art and design.
Our pictures at the gallery.
Exit from art Gallery, we roamed the street…
Shopping at our favorite The Farmers… and Christmas goodies were on the shelves.
Dunedin is a lovely Flower City…
Nice Monuments…
Other Dunedin Landmark…
After some quick lunch, we headed for Otago Settlers Museum.
Green Stone at the entrance… The Maoris have some spiritual belief associated with the stone. I thought this is the same thing known to Chinese as Jade.
A portion of displays are linked to European settlers arriving at Otago and their lifestyles in the early days.
Another section shows day to day house appliances I touched and used last century…. It stirred up some old memories.
Another section on automotive…Good Museum always put me into reflective thought on how life and world had changed. Strongly recommended for anyone who visited Dunedin.
It was around 1600 hrs… that we strolled to Vogel Street.
The street was crowded…
The artwork on the wall was really outstanding…
More wall art creation were in progress….
This art piece drew the most attention…
Performance artists mingled with the crowds…
This group drew a lot of applause…
There were stage performance as well…
Doing an Art Piece on the ground…
Children participants…
Face painting is creating an art piece on the face….
Children having good times here….
Except for this little girl…
Art is an expression… and it can really comes in all kind of form…
Maybe a bird resting on the pavement can be a form of expression
There are a number of stalls selling food…. and include Satay….
Queuing up for Fried chicken….
Beer and Food corner…
