24 March 2018 Saturday
It was raining throughout the night and a little cold this morning. My wife put together all the food that we had and make ourselves very sumptuous breakfast.
It was still light drizzle when we loaded up our small car and bid Good Bye to this cosy Countryside Studio.
It took us some 15 minutes to get to parking area next to Te Rewa Rewa Bridge.
From the sign board… we could see that the stretch of coastal walk is fairly long. Will explore the entire stretch the next time!
As we strolled in light drizzle… we could see the green meadows dissected by wide flowing river.
Yes… that is Te Rewa Rewa bridge !
Close up on Te Rewa Rewa Bridge. Lovely “out-of-the-box” structure !
Looking out from the bridge…. on one side is the inland river.
On the other side… it is where the river flowing into the ocean…
Morning Run on Te Rewa Rewa Bridge…
Staring down at the moving water…. feeling as if the bridge is moving forward…
Our Pictures at Te Rewa Rewa Bridge.
A picture taken at the river mouth before we make our return to the car park.
Explore the river bank….
and we noticed youngsters doing river crossing on this freezing cold morning.
and almost there…
Looking back from the car park…
Suddenly… I noticed brave creatures piercing itself through the freezing cold air at tremendous speed…
Managed to capture a series of shot as it emerge from far…
and this is a close up video….
The rain had stopped when we arrived at New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. A little railway line run parallel to the coast.
Strolling on the railway line.
And behind me is the iconic Wind Wand of New Plymouth.
Wind Wand from different angle.
Waterfront beside the wind wand.
Looking out at the sparkling water…
The sea was considered very calm as we looked out at the Tasman Sea or probably a portion of Pacific Ocean.
On the opposite side… Sugar Loaf Islands.
Very cool and relaxing morning …with light wave rolling in continuously.
Pictures at the coastal…
And some cold sip before we moved on…
A short drive to New Plymouth Clock Tower…
and besides the Clock Tower is the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery or commonly known as Len Lye Center.
And a little background of Len Lye.
As we entered the Art Gallery… Opp !!!!! Little toddler falling flat !
Picking himself up and ran off…. reflecting positive spirit to move on !
Art Gallery besides the hall… I really cannot recall the name of this series of painting. I would have called this the history of time… as I examined the paintwork – I gave a little of my own interpretation…
where it all started… sun and earth
volcanic eruption and lightning
Formation of single and multiple cell species…
Formation of micro-organism and more complex organism
formation of aquatic plants and land vegetation
evolved into varieties of living organism
Shaping planet Earth
man roaming all over planet Earth
and development of technology…
In another room… this exhibit is called “Blade”
wondering ….
and then it all started…
Other exhibits…
Our pictures at the art Gallery
and I called this COLOUR BLENDING !
Another artistic picture of Regine
And this is probably the definition of ART.
And my favorite statement : The value of experience lies in the depth of feeling.
and a mission and objective….
And this is what I am suppose to feel ! And indeed I am inspired and confused !
And finally a good summary ! I think this is an exceptional Art Gallery and truly inspiring, wonderful amid a mass of confusion !
Stepping out of this lovely and enchanting Gallery… suddenly everything looking inspiring and sunny…. gone were the low lying rain cloud…
On the road to Wellington…
Bashing our way right through hilly terrain.
A lot of greenery along the way…

A little stopover at farm / Orchard cafe after two full hours of driving…
And some of their fresh Orchard produce.
We had coffee, toast and fresh fruits.
“…. stop looking…..finish up the last bite and move on !”
and on with an Orchard… lovely apple hanging from the trees.
and a big apple
and so happy with handful of apple…
Continue with our drive to Wellington…Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain stretched across the distant horizon.
It was around 1500 hrs when we finally arrived at Wellington and it began to drizzle….
After checked into hotel, we moved on to the event of the day @ Cuba Street.
On our way to Cuba Street, buildings were given an artistic touch…
It was light rain but nothing stopped the enthusiasm.
Even this little chubby girl was enjoying…
The entire street was packed…
In Front of Hotel Bristol…. the most crowded stretch on Cuba Street….
with some very good music…. people simply stopped and hanged around….
The interest went beyond the main walking street…
