21 December 2017 Thursday
We woke up at 0230 hrs in the morning and took a cab to the airport. It was 0555 hrs flight from Singapore to Taipei. An hour transit before continued our journey to Hokkaido.
1530 hrs. We were hovering above the cloud over Hokkaido.
White Hokkaido under the evening sun.
It was all white as we approached the runway.
At arrival Hall…
The first store that caught our attention…..my wife like it very much.
And our favorite Rokutei strawberry chocolate and resin biscuits !
It was nearly an hour on the JR and we reached Sapporo at 1800 hrs.
Stepping out of JR station…. snow flakes lightly float and swayed in the crisp cold air …. so nice !
A 30 minutes struggle over ice and snow before we reached our Resol Trinity Hotel @ Odori park. A quick checked in and we were back onto the street enjoying the snowfall.
Photographer at work…
Crossing the street and we were on the icy Odori Park. There were few stalls selling Hot food and hot wine.
And this stall sells Tempura Children ! ?
The snow fall turned a little more aggressive.
Strolling ……
and little love the taste of snow…
Japanese lady training her dog on cold winter night.
Beds of LED lights everywhere.
and in the direction of Sapporo TV tower…
Approaching the mass lighting….. Romantic warm pink lighting amid the falling snow.
A little overview.
Frozen fountain was make over with sparkling lights.
It is so lovely to Stroll inside the lighted tunnel….
And a pink diamond to grace the occasion.
Crossing over to section near the TV tower…bluish lights dominated.
Our picture…
First snowman we came across … scholarly looking !
The next stretch was taken up by Germany style Christmas market.
They were many stalls selling Christmas goodies and hot food… similar to what we saw in Europe !
I planned to have Food Stuff from Christmas market for dinner…look like not so appropriate…. so we had some light Sashimi at Izakaya Restaurant (居酒屋 美濃家)
Yummy….
With renewed energy…. we make our way to Susukino, targeting at the famous Ramen Alley.
It was lovely to pop into a warm Ramen shop for a bowl of hot tasty Ramen.
Our Orders…
The Ramen with the very luxurious soup…. so delicious and enjoyable on a freezing cold night.
After dinner, as we make our way back…we spotted this little bakery.
The Red bean Pancake is very similar to what we had at Kyushu months ago. Good stuff…. had a few pack for our breakfast.
End of Day 1 : After a long tiring flight, we had our first taste of snowy Christmas lighting and we enjoyed our very delicious Ramen at Susukino Ramen Alley. I especially love the warm feeling of Ramen Store on a freezing cold winter night.
