We woke up very early for the sunrise over Aoshima.
Walking to the beach…. catching moment before the sun break above the horizon.

The first essence of sunrise…
In less than 30 mins….the sky turned from Golden Orange to cloudy White….
(Well… there is a theory of seeing long wavelength light at sun rise and sunset… Science always give dull explanation to spectacular nature)

when we walked back, darkness was retreating rapidly behind the hotel.
It was very early and quiet…. the air was very still. I like the quiet reflection.
After a good bath at the Resort Onsen, we packed our luggage and set off to Takachiho.
It was long coastal road followed by mountainous terrain when we approached Takachiho. Misty mountain and plenty of green. It reminded me of the song ….. Take Me Home Country Road.

Takachiho is a lovely heaven surrounded by beautiful green mountains. Peaceful, cooling and relaxing. I would schedule two nights here on my next trip to Kyushu.
We stopped over at Takachihogyu Restaurant Nagomi. Its immediate neighbour – Takachiho Gamadase Market – a local farmers market. Very homely feeling.

We had our Takachiho Beef BBQ set lunch.
simply too good …. that we had to order a subsequent portions. This is the best BBQ beef that we had tasted. shiokkkkk………………
After lunch, we drove to Takachiho Gorge, about a kilometer from where we had lunch. From car park, we saw “boat trip for 30 mins”… we quickly booked the tickets thinking that it was a cruise where we can sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.

Oh no…. no cruise… we are supposed to row our own boat….

After some struggle….managed to steer it correctly…and we were entering the gorge

At the other end of Gorge…. and started to make our way back.
Leisure and enjoyable rowing ….
It was a great rowing experience in a spectacular Gorge….We decided not to visit Takachiho Shrine. It was 1530 hrs and we were supposed to reach Yufuin before 1800 hrs. The Resort staff said they would have our dinner ready by 1800 hrs.
The journey to Yufuin was very difficult drive. The terrain was difficult, the road was narrow and extremely winding. It took me 3 full hours for the 100 KM journey.
1830 hrs… we arrived at Ryoso Makiba.
An absolutely wonderful choice !
In Ryoso Makiba, guests stay in standalone traditional Japanese cottages…

Yes…. traditional tatami room.
A little wash up and we headed for dinner.
The owner told us what we were going to have traditional multiple course dinner. The name I gathered from internet is kaiseki-ryōri (懐石料理)…Never mind the given name, I called it sumptuous, exquisite and delicious.
After dinner…we took few pictures of Hotel Night view.
returning back to our cottage…. the staff had prepared all the bedding for us.
After unpacking and we were off to onsen. The dressing room and washing area for the onsen.

End of Day 6. It was a very long day for us. It was 5 am in the morning when we woke up to catch the essence of sunrise over Aoshima. After a long drive to Takachiho, we had exceptional good BBQ Takachiho beef and a wonderful rowing experience in Takachiho Gorge. It was another difficult journey before reaching Yufuin. A sumptuous traditional dinner followed by traditional onsen. …. ZZZZzzzzzzz…..
