23 December 2015 Wednesday
We woke up to find no bridge across the Danube. The Danube was enveloped in thick fog.
After breakfast, we dragged our luggage and bid good bye to this lovely cruise. Our Hotel is about 600 M from the Jetty. We had arranged with Budapest Hotel Zenit Palace for early check in.
After settling in, we arranged for a taxi to send us to Memento Park and back to Hotel. This is the entrance to Memento Park… it was equally foggy.
Foggy inside the park…
We have enjoyable time inside the park…emulating the statues…
This was real tough….Our best emulation of running soldier…
We liked the platoon of soldiers and the last lady…
We were surprised by the level of technology in those days…
Morning Dew….
Other displays…
At the exit… they sold the last breath of communism…implication ???
We make our way back to Hotel and collected out towels. Brought a pack of very hot Chestnut … the aroma was fantastic and tried to find our way to Szechenyi bath…
I had bad struggle on the train tickets….finally we make it. (Lesson Learnt : Keep all the available Hungarian coin, notes sometimes do not work.)
We make it to Szechenyi bath.
Inside Szechenyi bath
Szechenyi bath – it was freezing air against warm water
The pool was packed with people.
Playing Chess in the bath…
Our Pictures
we spend more than two hours in the warm bath….very wonderful experience. After a good shower, we wander through the woods to Hero Squares (the song that lingered in our ear….森林之歌)。
Bright flood lights
Very enjoyable scene… people were skating, spinning, dancing and falling.
Look a little further….there were more crowds in the rink. Several hundreds enjoying themselves…
As we strolled pass the rink, we realised it was sited on a frozen river…
Trendy youngsters exit from the rink.
Arrived at Hero Square
The Millennium Memorial Column… the spot light on the horses reminded me of shadow warrior in Harry Porter.
The colonnade…. heavenly….
We took a cab to Vorosmarty Christmas Market.
Christmas carols…
We had local delicacies for dinner. Goulash in a bowl make of bread and Potatoes Noodles for our dinner
Taste Good….
After dinner, we headed for Basilica.
Entrance to Basilica Christmas Market
Basilica and the Blue Christmas Tree
Very expressive selfies by the Blue Christmas Tree.
Christmas goodies… the glassware were as good as those in Prague.
Christmas Market viewed from Basilica.
We had a very enjoyable day….leisurely we strolled through the quiet street, heading back to Hotel for good rest – in preparation for another day of Budapest exploration.
